Who we are
What makes someone devote their life to 10 seconds every four years? This sums up why I went into physiotherapy - a love of sport and a fascination with what drives people. Nearly 30 years later and I am still captivated by my patients’ stories - what matters to them and what is holding them back, often pain and injury.
I graduated BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2000. Invaluable stints in the NHS in Glasgow sandwiched 2 years travelling and working in Australia and New Zealand. I then moved to London to complete my MSc Advanced Physiotherapy in 2010 and spent 5 years working in the City and at various major sporting events including London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
But Scotland always called me home.
I moved back to Edinburgh in 2015 and spent 5 fantastic years at Space Clinics working with a huge variety of athletes and ‘weekend warriors’. Over this time I travelled with the Scottish Touch Rugby squads to 9 major tournaments including 2 world cups and supported Scottish Swimming athletes at Olympic trials.
During the pandemic I returned to the NHS as a GP Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner and this remains my main role. However I still want to be involved in the rehab side of physiotherapy and so I founded Fiona Begg Physiotherapy. It allows me to bring together my experience in musculoskeletal medicine and sports injuries, offering a fully rounded physiotherapy experience for clients.
I pride myself in my friendly and thorough approach whilst at the same time keeping things simple and specific to what clients need.
Outside work I can be found in the garden, on the beach or at a gig.
